 San Francisco Assistant Police Chief Morris Tabak killed himself last night outside a Sonoma County sheriff's substation. Tabak retired from the San Francisco Police Department in September 2010.


Wisconsin cop under investigation killed himself with nail gun


WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. -- An autopsy finds a former Wisconsin Rapids police lieutenant suspected of child enticement killed himself with a nail gun.  Wood County Deputy Coroner Gabe Holczer said Steven Lowe, 41, shot himself in the chest with the construction tool "multiple times" just days after being arrested. Lowe was found dead in his pickup truck Monday morning at his home in Grand Rapids. He died of multiple wounds from the nail gun, the deputy coroner told WAOW-TV.  Lowe was suspended by Wisconsin Rapids police officials earlier this month and then resigned from the force. Court documents say Lowe was accused of impersonating a teenage girl online to try to get juvenile boys to send him nude pictures.


California Officer Charged with Secretly Spraying Teenager’s Pizza With Pepper Spray In Traffic Stop



Orange County Sheriff’s Deputy Juan Tavera is charged with spraying a teenager’s pizza with pepper spray without his knowledge in a routine traffic stop. Tavera pulled over a 19-year-old kid for a traffic violation. The teenager had a pizza in the backseat. When he got home, he and four friends became sick after eating the pizza. Pepper spray was suspected and they called the police about the traffic stop.

Tavera is only charged with misdemeanor assault and is a on PAID administrative leave. Pepper spray can be lethal to people with asthma or others with weakened physical conditions

Trial for ex-Phoenix officer charged with murder, animal cruelty set to begin

PHOENIX — Jury selection is set to begin Monday for a former Phoenix police officer Richard Chrisman  who is charged with murder and animal cruelty in the fatal shootings of an unarmed man and his dog during a domestic dispute call.
Authorities say  Chrisman broke the law in his response to the 2010 call that ended with the death of 29-year-old Daniel Rodriguez at the south Phoenix trailer that Rodriguez shared with his mother.
Rodriguez's mother had called police from a neighbor's trailer because she said her son had damaged property inside their trailer after the two had gotten into an argument on Oct. 5, 2010.

Investigators say that when Rodriguez questioned the officers' right to be inside the trailer, Chrisman drew his pistol, put its muzzle on Rodriguez's temple and said he didn't need a warrant to be there. Chrisman's partner told investigators that there was no threat being made against either officer

Baltimore City officer charged with killing fiancee dies of apparent suicide in jail



BALTIMORE - A Baltimore City police officer James Smith, charged in the death of his fiancĂ©e died in an apparent suicide, state correctional officials confirmed. Smith was found by a correctional officer unresponsive in his cell at about  1 a.m. at the Maryland Reception, Diagnostic, and Classification Center (MRDCC) at Greenmount and Madison in Baltimore. Smith, a 20-year veteran of the department, was charged with first-degree murder for allegedly killing Kendra Diggs , 37, on May 7 during  a domestic situation at a home in the 1100 block of N. Parrish Street. Police said Smith shot Diggs from his second-story window as she was standing on the sidewalk with an officer. He then barricaded himself into his home for six hours with the couple’s 4-year-old son.

Fort Wayne police officer James A. Arnold was suspended last month after striking a man with a mental illness over the head multiple times. He was suspended for 30 days. Arnold’s suspension stems from a Jan/ 31 incident in which he responded to a call for assistance from another police officer. While attempting to restrain the man, Arnold struck him multiple times on the head, resulting in a fracture in his jaw area, York said.

Police: Trooper under investigation kills self



 A Massachusetts state trooper who was the subject of a criminal investigation has been found dead in an apparent suicide at a hotel in Devens. Police say an investigation started Sunday into an alleged criminal act that occurred early that morning while the trooper was on duty. His gun and other equipment were confiscated and he was relieved of duty.
