Indianapolis police arrested
one of their own late Friday in a disturbance on the Northeastside.
Officer David Reece was
arrested and preliminarily charged with two counts of battery and one count of
residential entry, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reported today.
While IMPD investigates the
incident, Reece will be suspended without pay and stripped of his police
powers.
Reece was arrested after a
disturbance shortly before midnight in the 8800 block of William Penn Circle, a
luxury home development near Sargent Road and 75th Street.
The department said it wouldn’t
release more details of the incident until Monday.
A 41-year-old woman who lives
in the 8800 block of William Penn Circle was involved in the incident, in
addition to a 41-year-old woman from Lancaster, Pa., and a 44-year-old man from
Sheridan, according to the police report.
The report also says police
impounded Reece’s Chevy truck and confiscated a man’s wallet and a cellphone.
Reece will be referred in
coming weeks to the department’s employee assistance program as well as to the
IMPD’s Office of Professional Development and Police Wellness, IMPD said.
