A
former Newport News master police officer has been sentenced to 12 years, all
suspended, for exposing himself and performing an “obscene sexual display.”
Christopher
Roush was found guilty in January for the 12 misdemeanor charges against him.
Several people testified that in April of last year, Roush was standing
completely naked in the doorway of his Harpersville Road home around 9 a.m.
Several witnesses said that Roush appeared to be masturbating.
Roush
lost his job over the incident, and testified that he had no idea what had
happened. Roush faced up to 12 years in prison. He was sentenced Thursday to 12
years, all suspended. The judge said that he couldn’t do more to hurt Roush
than what Roush has already done to himself. And doing things to himself is
what got him into this mess in the first place.
